Charles Leadbeater on Cloud Culture // {Future} {Tech}
It's fitting that a leading authority on the future such as Charles Leadbeater can seemingly break the physical laws of causality to deliver this seminar.
Copper - Project management for your creative team ... a users tale
This is the tale of a lil' ol' designer struggling to be 'Mr Organised'. It all began a few months ago when he started realising that it wasn't quite enough to just get all his agencies work done and dusted. He went on an online quest for answers to the question of 'How can I become more productive and if possible have fun doing it ? To put it simply, find a creative management system we could enjoy using.
The Loop // {Connections} {Companies} {Individuals}
I had a chance to chat with Pip Jamieson, Director of company The Loop, on Skype only a few months after they have launched. Before this, I heard more than a few whispers about the website in one week - from new media company owners, Brisbane City Council folk right through to a friend who owns a zine. So to me, it seems as if the website and/or project idea appeals to a broad range of people.

Youth Arts Showcase & MAD 4 Teens Magazine Launch
"Get Loud" is Brisbane's take on National Youth Week, and the last day festivities certainly made every effort to live up to the name.
Charles Leadbeater at Eidos // {Policy} {Innovation}
Perhaps my demographic and personal/professional interests lend a certain bias to the topics contained within Charles Leadbeater’s talk about creativity, innovation and connecting with a community, however, the fact remains there couldn’t have been two more different speakers on the stage at the event.
Capitalising on US new media and entertainment opportunities // {AIMIA} {Austrade} {Release}
This event is part of a national initiative conducted between AIMIA and Austrade to further the growth of the digital and creative industries for companies with a global reach, particularly with US expansion.
The King and I: Bell Shakespeare brings the Bard to Brisbane
It was a Shakespearean clash of sorts
– not between slaves and royalty – but rather, a clash of theatrical anniversaries. In 2010, Bell Shakespeare turns 20, the Queensland Theatre Company turns 40 and the Queensland Performing Arts Centre, home of the touring production, this year celebrates its quarter-century. The opening night of King Lear at the Playhouse Theatre saw the three institutions collide. But in spite of the clashing milestones, no blood was spilled - off-stage, that is.
Fashioned // Artisan Unleashed
Innovation, outstanding design and craft based arts such as jewellery, fashion, ceramics and interior products are the focus for Fortitude Valley based gallery Artisan. Artisan curates an annual Unleashed exhibition of graduate work and this year they turned their spotlight on fashion design, millinery, art, product and communication design.
Fundbreak // Crowdfunding Creative Projects and Ideas
Fundbreak provides project creators with a platform to present their ideas to a worldwide audience. If anyone likes the idea, they can support it by pledging money to the creator's project. In return for support, the project creators will offer rewards depending on the level of funding.
Anyone in Australia, who cannot obtain funding for their ideas, now has Fundbreak to find a worldwide network of support sources.
Fundbreak believes in an all or 'nothing' concept. If the project reaches the funding goal within the time frame, production begins and supporters receive their rewards. If the goal is not reached in time, the project will be deemed unsuccessful and no funds will be exchanged.
More information about Fundbreak on BCI.
Navigation Arts Business Training – Youth Arts Queensland
As artists we desire to create change in the world, either through a beautiful song, theatre production, painting, film or through creating a new experience. Many of us go to Tafe or University to develop our skills in our chosen art form but often the ability to make these beautiful things isn't enough. Too many artists finish their studies lacking the practical business skills that allow them to drive their practices forward. Youth Arts Queensland is one of several organizations providing practical training for artists through their Navigation Arts Business Training Program.
