BCI EVENTS
Brisbane Creative Industries: Xmas / XMedia Issue
The heat and the holiday season is here (and both can only intensify as the days go by) so it is only appropriate for me to round off the last 2009 eNews for the creative industries in Brisbane with a Xmas wishlist of events. Scroll down and you can check out an Christmas art exhibition or enjoy a festive lunch with some enthusiasts and professionals in the fashion industry. I went to Sydney for the day on November 27 to attend XMediaLab at the Sydney Opera House and was inspired by the future of the creative industries in terms of media, games, film and more.
This was announced in the November eNews but you may not already know that the upcoming events calendar for the burgeoning Sydney and Melbourne websites are online. Please contact me
if there are people, projects or events that need to be noted or if you wish to be included on updates. The same goes for Brisbane as well - if you have ideas or upcoming industry news for me to look into in 2010, I would love to know more! Already we are hearing about Icograda design week based in October 2010 and whispers of various other events.
I hope that everyone has had a great year and see you all in 2010!

Cutting edge, emerging art. My experience of the beast unleashed.
MEGA // {Nibble} {Mobile} {Design}
I have heard a lot about the MEGA (Mobile Enterprise Growth Alliance) program from a variety of sources, offline and online, and attended my first MEGA pitch in Sydney on November 27.
Interactive Art and Design // {XMediaLab} {Microsoft Surface} {Lynette Wallworth}
These two figures may seem to be worlds apart but they both share a common ground: the suspension of belief between the digital and the physical.

This entry is based on Julien Merceron's presentation for XMediaLab. He knows his stuff.

I chatted with Naz Barrett, Head Lecturer of Shillington College (Brisbane) which is one of the best design colleges in the state. Read about all things design and graduation.

Nowhere Boy // Promo

A lonely teenager, curious and sharp, growing up in the shattered city of Liverpool. Two incredible women clash for his love. Mimi (Kristin Scott-Thomas), the formidable aunt who raised him, and Julia (Anne-Marie Duff), the spirited mother who gave him up. Yearning for a normal family, John (Aaron Johnson) escapes into music. His fledgling genius finds a kindred spirit in the young Paul McCartney. But just as John’s new life begins, the truth about his past leads to a tragedy he would never escape. Poignant and powerful, the untold story of the boy who created The Beatles.
Forward BCI to a friend (or four!) and be in the draw to win a 2-for-1 pass to see Nowhere Boy! New BCI eNews subscribers get in the draw to win a 2-for-1 pass to this movie too (more information here).
